Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The true event! (1) How tremendous is the true event! (2) And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? (3) The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: (4) So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; (5) as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind (6) which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: (7) Do you see any vestige left of them now? (8) And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, (9) And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. (10) Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship (11) That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. (12) And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. (13) And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, (14) then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, (15) And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, (16) The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. (17) That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. (18) Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: (19) Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. (20) He is therefore in the desired serenity. (21) In a lofty Garden (22) its clusters nigh to gather. (23) (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” (24) And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: (25) and neither known this my account! (26) Oh, would that it had been death! (27) “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” (28) My power hath gone from me. (29) [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, (30) and then let him enter hell, (31) And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. (32) for he did not believe in Almighty God, (33) And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), (34) Today he shall have no loyal friend here, (35) nor any food except foul pus (36) None shall eat it but the sinners.
