Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Sure Reality! (1) How tremendous is the true event! (2) And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? (3) Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. (4) So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; (5) And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. (6) Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. (7) Can you see any remnant of them now? (8) The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. (9) And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. (10) Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, (11) making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. (12) So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. (13) And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, (14) Then, on that day will the Event befall. (15) And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, (16) And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. (17) The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. (18) So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” (19) Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! (20) Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; (21) in a lofty garden, (22) With fruits hanging low within reach, (23) Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! (24) But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, (25) "And that I had never known, how my Account is? (26) O would that it had made an end (of me): (27) “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” (28) There hath perished from me my authority. (29) [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. (30) then cast him in the Fire, (31) “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” (32) Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, (33) and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: (34) So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend (35) Nor food other than suppuration (filth) (36) Which none but the wrongdoers eat. (37)
