Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The sure calamity! (1) What is the Inevitable Hour? (2) Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! (3) Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. (4) Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), (5) And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind (6) that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. (7) Can you see any of their survivors? (8) Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, (9) They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. (10) Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. (11) so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. (12) Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, (13) And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. (14) Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, (15) And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, (16) And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. (17) On that day all your secrets will be exposed. (18) Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! (19) “I was certain that I will confront my account.” (20) His shall be a pleasing life (21) In a lofty Paradise, (22) The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. (23) (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' (24) But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, (25) and not known my reckoning! (26) "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! (27) Our wealth is of no benefit to us (28) and my authority has been destroyed' (29) [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, (30) And then expose him to hell-fire (31) Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: (32) “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” (33) Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. (34) therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, (35) Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; (36) which only the sinners will eat.” (37)
