Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! (1) What is the Reality? (2) And what do you know what that indubitable event is? (3) The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. (4) So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. (5) And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. (6) Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. (7) Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? (8) Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. (9) And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. (10) Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) (11) so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. (12) Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), (13) and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! (14) On that day, the inevitable event will take place (15) when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, (16) and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. (17) On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. (18) Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! (19) Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. (20) Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing (21) In a lofty Paradise, (22) Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. (23) (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' (24) But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record (25) and not known my reckoning! (26) I wish death had put an end to me. (27) My wealth has not availed me, (28) Vanished has my power from me." (29) Lay hold of him and chain him; (30) Then into Hellfire drive him. (31) then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. (32) Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, (33) Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. (34) "So no friend hath he here this Day. (35) neither any food saving foul pus, (36) Which none but the wrongdoers eat. (37)
