52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! (1) What is the Indubitable? (2) And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? (3) Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. (4) Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. (5) The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale (6) Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. (7) Now dost thou see any remnant of them? (8) And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. (9) And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. (10) But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, (11) That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. (12) Then when the Horn is blown with one blast (13) And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - (14) On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. (15) and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; (16) And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. (17) On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. (18) Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. (19) Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” (20) so he will live in a state of Bliss (21) in a lofty Garden (22) Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. (23) "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" (24) And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! (25) And knew not what my reckoning! (26) O would that it had made an end (of me): (27) My riches have availed me not; (28) There hath perished from me my authority. (29) [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, (30) Then throw him in the blazing Fire. (31) Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. (32) for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, (33) nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. (34) So no friend has he here this Day, (35) neither any food saving foul pus, (36) “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” (37)
