۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 And the heaven will split asunder so on that day it will be unstable. 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 and neither known this my account! 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 Nor any food save filth 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
