In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Reality! (1) What is the Sure Reality? (2) And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! (3) The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! (4) But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! (5) And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind (6) Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! (7) and dost thou now see any remnant of them? (8) And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, (9) And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. (10) We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), (11) That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. (12) Then when the Horn is blown with one blast (13) and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! (14) On that day shall the great event come to pass, (15) And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, (16) and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. (17) That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. (18) So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” (19) Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. (20) And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, (21) In a lofty Paradise, (22) The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. (23) 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' (24) But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book (25) and knew nothing of my reckoning. (26) Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! (27) "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! (28) I am bereft of power." (29) The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, (30) "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. (31) "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" (32) He did not believe in Allah, the Great, (33) and he never urged the feeding of the needy; (34) That is why he has no friend today, (35) “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” (36) which none but the sinners eat!" (37)
