Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 in an exalted garden 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
