Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! (1) How tremendous is the true event! (2) And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. (3) Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. (4) As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. (5) The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale (6) which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: (7) Can you see any remnant of them now? (8) Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. (9) They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. (10) Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship (11) making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. (12) When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, (13) And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, (14) Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, (15) The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. (16) And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. (18) So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” (19) I was certain I'll be given my account." (20) So he shall have an agreeable life (21) In a lofty Garden (22) its fruits are near. (23) “Eat and drink with pleasure the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” (24) And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” (25) and neither known this my account! (26) Would that death had taken us away for good. (27) Of no use was even my wealth. (28) [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" (29) (It will be said): Take him and fetter him (30) “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” (31) then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. (32) they did not believe in the great God, (33) nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. (34) therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, (35) Nor food other than suppuration (filth) (36) None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). (37)
