Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Indubitable! (1) What is the sure calamity! (2) Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! (3) THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! (4) the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; (5) And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. (6) He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! (7) Then do you see of them any remains? (8) And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. (9) They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. (10) When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, (11) so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. (12) So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast (13) And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, (14) on that Day, the Event occurs. (15) and the heavens will be rent asunder, (16) And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. (17) On that day all your secrets will be exposed. (18) Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! (19) I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". (20) So he shall be in a pleasing life (21) in a lofty Garden (22) the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). (23) [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." (24) And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” (25) And had not known what is my account. (26) Oh, would that it had been the ending! (27) My riches have not availed me, (28) My power hath gone from me. (29) [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. (30) Then throw him in the blazing Fire. (31) then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. (32) for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, (33) "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! (34) On this day, they will have no friends (35) nor any food save the filth (36) Which none but the hellish eat." (37)
