Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Inevitable Reality - (1) What is the Inevitable? (2) And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? (3) The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. (4) As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. (5) And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind (6) Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. (7) Then seest thou any of them left surviving? (8) Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, (9) They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. (10) When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. (11) That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. (12) So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast (13) And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. (14) On that Day will come what is to come. (15) and the heavens will be rent asunder, (16) The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. (18) So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! (19) Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. (20) So he will be in a pleasant life - (21) In high empyrean (22) its fruits are near. (23) Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". (24) But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, (25) And I had not known what my account was: (26) How I wish my death had ended all. (27) My wealth has not helped me a thing (28) Vanished has my power from me." (29) (It will be said): Take him and fetter him (30) Then in the Scorch roast him (31) then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. (32) they did not believe in the great God, (33) Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. (34) Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. (35) Nor any food save filth (36) which none but the sinners eat!" (37)
