Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Reality - 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 I am bereft of power." 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
