52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Resurrection Verifier; 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In a high garden 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
