Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 in an exalted garden 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 And not known my account! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 nor any food save the filth 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
