Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! (1) How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! (2) And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? (3) Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. (4) The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. (5) and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm (6) Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! (7) and dost thou now see any remnant of them? (8) Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, (9) And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. (10) Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship (11) That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. (12) Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), (13) And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, (14) then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, (15) The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. (16) and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… (17) On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. (18) Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. (19) Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! (20) And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, (21) In high empyrean (22) the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). (23) We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." (24) However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us (25) And not known my account! (26) Oh, would that it had been the ending! (27) “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” (28) [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" (29) Lay hold of him and chain him; (30) Then into Hellfire drive him. (31) then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! (32) Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, (33) Nor urged others to feed the poor. (34) So no friend has he here this Day, (35) Nor food other than suppuration (filth) (36) "Which none do eat but those in sin." (37)
