Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Sure Reality! (1) What is the Inevitable Reality? (2) And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! (3) The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. (4) Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. (5) And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; (6) which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. (7) Can you see any of their survivors? (8) And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. (9) And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. (10) Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. (11) making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. (12) And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, (13) and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, (14) So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. (15) and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, (16) And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. (17) On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. (18) Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: (19) Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. (20) Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; (21) in a lofty Garden, (22) the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). (23) Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. (24) And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! (25) and had not known my account. (26) Oh, would that it had been the ending! (27) My wealth hath not availed me, (28) "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" (29) 'Take him, and fetter him, (30) and then let him enter Hell. (31) And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. (32) Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, (33) nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. (34) so today he has no friend here, (35) Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, (36) that none excepting the sinners eat.' (37)
