Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! (1) What is the concrete reality? (2) And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? (3) The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. (4) Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), (5) And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; (6) He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! (7) Do you then see of them one remaining? (8) And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. (9) and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! (10) Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. (11) That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. (12) So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast (13) And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, (14) on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; (15) and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, (16) And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. (17) You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. (18) He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. (19) Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' (20) He is therefore in the desired serenity. (21) In an elevated garden, (22) the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). (23) Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! (24) But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book (25) And knew not what my reckoning! (26) “Alas, if only it had been just death.” (27) My wealth hath not availed me, (28) my authority is gone from me.' (29) [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. (30) "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. (31) and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: (32) "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. (33) Nor urged others to feed the poor. (34) "So no friend hath he here this Day. (35) neither any food saving foul pus, (36) "Which none do eat but those in sin." (37)
