Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). (1) What is the sure calamity! (2) And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! (3) Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. (4) Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; (5) And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind (6) He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. (7) Do you see any remnants of them? (8) Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned (9) and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. (10) Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, (11) that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. (12) When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, (13) and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, (14) Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, (15) And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. (16) and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. (17) The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. (18) Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! (19) Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' (20) He is therefore in the desired serenity. (21) In a lofty Garden (22) its clusters nigh to gather. (23) Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! (24) And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” (25) And had not known what is my account. (26) How I wish my death had ended all. (27) My wealth has been of no use to me. (28) There hath perished from me my authority. (29) Lay hold of him and chain him; (30) “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” (31) then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. (32) Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, (33) Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. (34) therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, (35) Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; (36) which only the sinners eat". (37)
