Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! (1) What is the Indubitable? (2) And what do you know what that indubitable event is? (3) The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) (4) So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. (5) The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale (6) Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. (7) Can you see any remnant of them now? (8) Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, (9) They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. (10) Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship (11) so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. (12) When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, (13) and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! (14) Then on that Day shall happen the Event. (15) And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, (16) and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… (17) On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. (18) Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. (19) Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," (20) They will have a pleasant life (21) In an elevated garden, (22) Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. (23) (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. (24) As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, (25) And I had not known what my account was: (26) Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! (27) My wealth has not availed me, (28) "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" (29) [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. (30) and then roast him in Hell, (31) "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! (32) He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; (33) And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. (34) therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, (35) and the only food he has is filth (36) which only the sinners will eat.” (37)
