Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). (1) How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! (2) What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? (3) (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. (4) As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! (5) and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm (6) Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. (7) Now dost thou see any remnant of them? (8) And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. (9) They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. (10) Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship (11) In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. (12) And when the trumpet shall sound one blast (13) And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, (14) And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; (15) And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, (16) And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. (17) On that day all your secrets will be exposed. (18) On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! (19) "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" (20) So he shall be in a pleasing life (21) In a lofty Garden (22) With fruits hanging low within reach, (23) Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. (24) But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book (25) and had not known my account. (26) I wish my death had been the decisive one. (27) Of no use was even my wealth. (28) "My power has perished from me!"... (29) It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” (30) Then in the Scorch roast him (31) And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. (32) Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. (33) nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. (34) so today he has no friend here, (35) Nor any food save filthy corruption. (36) “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” (37)
