Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 in a high Garden, 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor any food save filth 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
