52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Resurrection Verifier; (1) and what is the Resurrection Verifier? (2) And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! (3) The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) (4) So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. (5) And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. (6) Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. (7) Can you see any of their survivors? (8) And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin (9) And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. (10) Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship (11) That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. (12) Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, (13) And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. (14) Then on that Day shall happen the Event. (15) and the heavens will be rent asunder, (16) And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. (17) The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. (18) Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! (19) Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' (20) So he shall be in a life of pleasure, (21) In a Garden on high, (22) with clusters of fruit within easy reach. (23) [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" (24) As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, (25) "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! (26) Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! (27) My wealth has been of no use to me. (28) I am bereft of power." (29) (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, (30) and then let him enter Hell. (31) And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. (32) Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, (33) nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, (34) Today he has been left here friendless; (35) and the only food he has is filth (36) None will eat it except the sinners. (37)
