Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! (1) How tremendous is the true event! (2) What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? (3) The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! (4) So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. (5) and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, (6) which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: (7) Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? (8) And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin (9) And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. (10) Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. (11) In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. (12) Then when the Horn is blown with one blast (13) when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, (14) On that day, the inevitable event will take place (15) when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, (16) And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. (18) Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! (19) "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" (20) He is therefore in the desired serenity. (21) In a Garden on high, (22) Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. (23) “Eat and drink with pleasure the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” (24) But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book (25) and knew nothing of my reckoning. (26) "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! (27) "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! (28) There hath perished from me my authority. (29) (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. (30) Then cast him into the burning fire, (31) Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." (32) they did not believe in the great God, (33) and he never urged the feeding of the needy; (34) “So he does not have any friend here this day.” (35) Nor any food except refuse, (36) which only the sinners eat". (37)
