Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Reality - (1) What is the Inevitable Calamity? (2) And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? (3) (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. (4) the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; (5) And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; (6) Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! (7) Do you see any trace of them? (8) The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. (9) And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. (10) Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship (11) That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. (12) Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, (13) And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, (14) On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. (15) The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. (16) The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. (18) Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! (19) Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. (20) And he will be in a life of Bliss, (21) in a lofty Garden (22) Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. (23) [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" (24) And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: (25) and knew nothing of my reckoning. (26) Oh, would that it had been death! (27) My wealth has availed me nothing: (28) and our belief has destroyed us". (29) [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. (30) And then expose him to hell-fire (31) “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” (32) Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, (33) nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. (34) "So no friend hath he here this Day. (35) Nor food other than suppuration (filth) (36) that none but sinners eat' (37)
