Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! (1) What is the Inevitable Calamity? (2) And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? (3) The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. (4) the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; (5) and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind (6) Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. (7) Then seest thou any of them left surviving? (8) Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, (9) They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. (10) Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship (11) In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. (12) Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), (13) And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. (14) On that Day will come what is to come. (15) And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. (16) And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. (18) Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. (19) Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." (20) Then he will be in blissful state (21) in a lofty Garden (22) Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. (23) [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." (24) But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! (25) and knew nothing of my reckoning. (26) O would that it had made an end (of me): (27) My wealth has availed me nothing: (28) There hath perished from me my authority. (29) It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” (30) and then let him enter hell, (31) and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: (32) Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allah, the Most Great, (33) And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), (34) so today he has no friend here, (35) nor any food except foul pus (36) None will eat it except the sinners.
