Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reality! (1) How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! (2) And what do you know what that indubitable event is? (3) The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) (4) So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. (5) And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. (6) Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. (7) Can you see any of their survivors? (8) The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. (9) and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. (10) When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, (11) That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. (12) So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast (13) and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, (14) On that day shall the great event come to pass, (15) And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, (16) And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. (17) That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. (18) Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. (19) Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," (20) Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing (21) In a Garden on high, (22) Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. (23) (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” (24) But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! (25) “And had never come to know my account!” (26) Would that death had taken us away for good. (27) “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” (28) Gone from me is my authority." (29) It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” (30) Roast him in Hell, (31) Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. (32) Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, (33) And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. (34) Today he has been left here friendless; (35) Nor food other than suppuration (filth) (36) which no one will eat except the sinners. (37)
