Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Reality! (1) What is the concrete reality? (2) And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. (3) The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. (4) As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. (5) and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm (6) which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. (7) Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? (8) And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. (9) and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. (10) We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), (11) That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. (12) When a single blow is blown on the Horn, (13) and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, (14) On that day, the inevitable event will take place (15) And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. (16) And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. (17) On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. (18) Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. (19) Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. (20) He is therefore in the desired serenity. (21) In an elevated garden, (22) its clusters nigh to gather. (23) Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". (24) And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! (25) “And had never come to know my account!” (26) Oh, would that it had been death! (27) Our wealth is of no benefit to us (28) [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" (29) It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” (30) Then in the Scorch roast him (31) “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” (32) Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allah, the Most Great, (33) and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: (34) So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend (35) Nor any food save filthy corruption. (36) Which none but sinners eat. (37)
