In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Sure Reality! (1) and what is the Resurrection Verifier? (2) What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? (3) The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) (4) Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), (5) as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind (6) which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: (7) Beholdest thou any of them remaining? (8) And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, (9) and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! (12) And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. (13) And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. (23) (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." (24) But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, (25) and not known my reckoning! (26) I wish death had put an end to me. (27) Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, (28) I am bereft of power." (29) Lay hold of him and chain him; (30) Then in the Scorch roast him (31) "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! (32) Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, (33) nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. (34) Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. (35) Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; (36) that none but sinners eat' (37)
