Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). (1) What is the Inevitable Calamity? (2) And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? (3) The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: (4) So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. (5) And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; (6) Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. (7) Do you see any remnants of them? (8) Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. (9) And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. (10) And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), (11) That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. (12) Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, (13) and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, (14) on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; (15) and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; (16) And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. (18) On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! (19) Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." (20) so he will live in a state of Bliss (21) in a lofty Garden (22) The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. (23) [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." (24) But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, (25) Nor that I knew my reckoning! (26) O would that it had made an end (of me): (27) "My wealth has not availed me, (28) My power hath gone from me. (29) It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” (30) Then into Hellfire drive him. (31) Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: (32) for he did not believe in Almighty God, (33) nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, (34) so today he has no friend here, (35) Nor any food save filth (36) which only the sinners eat".
