Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Inevitable Hour! (1) What is the Inevitable Hour? (2) And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! (3) The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) (4) So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. (5) And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. (6) Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. (7) Now dost thou see any remnant of them? (8) And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. (9) They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. (10) We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), (11) So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. (12) Then when the Horn is blown with one blast (13) And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. (14) On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. (15) And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, (16) And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. (17) On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. (18) Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. (19) "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" (20) And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, (21) In a lofty Garden (22) The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. (23) We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." (24) But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record (25) "And that I had never known, how my Account is? (26) Would that death had taken us away for good. (27) My wealth has not availed me, (28) Vanished has my power from me." (29) (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, (30) then cast him in the Fire, (31) Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: (32) Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, (33) "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! (34) therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, (35) Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, (36) that none excepting the sinners eat.' (37)
