Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). (1) And what is that indubitable event? (2) And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! (3) The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. (4) Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), (5) and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm (6) Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! (7) Do you then see of them one remaining? (8) Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. (9) They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. (10) But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, (11) so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. (12) And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, (13) And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, (14) So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. (15) And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. (16) The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. (18) So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” (19) "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" (20) He is therefore in the desired serenity. (21) In a Garden on high, (22) with clusters of fruit within easy reach. (23) [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." (24) But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record (25) And had not known what is my account. (26) Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! (27) My wealth has availed me nothing: (28) and my authority has been destroyed' (29) The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, (30) and then let him enter hell, (31) then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. (32) Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allah, the Most Great, (33) Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. (34) On this day, they will have no friends (35) and no food except pus (36) "Which none do eat but those in sin." (37)
