Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The sure calamity! (1) How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! (2) And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! (3) The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! (4) Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; (5) and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind (6) Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. (7) Beholdest thou any of them remaining? (8) And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, (9) and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! (10) Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, (11) In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. (12) When a single blow is blown on the Horn, (13) the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. (14) on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. (15) And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, (16) and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. (17) On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. (18) Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! (19) "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" (20) So he shall be in a pleasing life (21) in a high Garden, (22) The fruits of which are near at hand: (23) Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. (24) But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book (25) and not known my reckoning! (26) Oh, would that it had been death! (27) My wealth hath not availed me, (28) [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" (29) The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, (30) "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. (31) and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: (32) Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. (33) And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. (34) So no friend has he here this Day, (35) Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, (36) Which none but the hellish eat." (37)
