Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The indubitable event! (1) and what is the Resurrection Verifier? (2) What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? (3) Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. (4) Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), (5) and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind (6) which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. (7) Beholdest thou any of them remaining? (8) And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. (9) and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. (10) When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. (11) In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. (12) So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast (13) the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. (14) Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, (15) when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, (16) And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. (17) On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. (18) Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! (19) "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" (20) Then he will be in blissful state (21) In a Garden on high, (22) with clusters of fruit within easy reach. (23) (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." (24) But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! (25) And not known my account! (26) Would that death had taken us away for good. (27) My wealth hath not availed me, (28) my authority is gone from me.' (29) (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. (30) And then expose him to hell-fire (31) then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. (32) He did not believe in Allah, the Great, (33) Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. (34) On this day, they will have no friends (35) "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, (36) Which none but the hellish eat." (37)
