Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 In a high garden 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
