Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The indubitable event! (1) How tremendous is the true event! (2) And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? (3) Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! (4) As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. (5) And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. (6) which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. (7) Can you see any remnant of them now? (8) And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. (9) They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. (10) When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. (11) That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. (12) So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. (13) and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, (14) then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, (15) And the heaven will split asunder so on that day it will be unstable. (16) And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. (17) The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. (18) Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! (19) I was certain I'll be given my account." (20) So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. (21) in a high Garden, (22) With fruits hanging low within reach, (23) (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. (24) But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! (25) and that we would never knew what our records contained. (26) I wish death had put an end to me. (27) My riches have not availed me, (28) "My power has perished from me!"... (29) It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” (30) and then let him enter hell, (31) “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” (32) Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, (33) Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. (34) Today he shall have no loyal friend here, (35) Nor any food save filthy corruption. (36) which only the sinners will eat.” (37)
