Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Reality! (1) What is the sure calamity! (2) And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! (3) The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. (4) As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. (5) And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind (6) which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: (7) Then seest thou any of them left surviving? (8) And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. (9) They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. (10) Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship (11) In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. (12) Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, (13) And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. (14) On that day shall the great event come to pass, (15) And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. (16) and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. (17) You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. (18) Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! (19) Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," (20) So he shall have an agreeable life (21) In a high garden (22) with fruits within easy reach. (23) Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". (24) But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book (25) and not known my reckoning! (26) O would that it had made an end (of me): (27) Our wealth is of no benefit to us (28) I am bereft of power." (29) Seize him and fetter him, (30) Then into Hellfire drive him. (31) Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. (32) Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allah, the Most Great, (33) and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: (34) Therefore he has not here today a true friend, (35) “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” (36) that none excepting the sinners eat.'
