In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. (1) What is the Reality? (2) What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? (3) THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! (4) But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! (5) And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; (6) which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: (7) Now dost thou see any remnant of them? (8) And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. (9) They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. (10) Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship (11) In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. (12) So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast (13) And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, (14) On that Day will come what is to come. (15) and the heavens will be rent asunder, (16) And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. (17) That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. (18) He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. (19) I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". (20) So he shall be in a life of pleasure, (21) in a lofty Garden (22) The fruits of which are near at hand: (23) (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. (24) And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: (25) "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! (26) I wish death had put an end to me. (27) My riches have not availed me, (28) There hath perished from me my authority. (29) The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, (30) Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; (31) And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. (32) Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. (33) nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, (34) Therefor hath he no lover here this day, (35) “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” (36) which no one will eat except the sinners. (37)
