Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! (1) What is the Inevitable? (2) And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? (3) The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. (4) As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; (5) and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, (6) which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. (7) Then seest thou any of them left surviving? (8) And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. (9) They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. (10) Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship (11) In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. (12) Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, (13) And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. (14) Then on that Day shall happen the Event. (15) The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. (16) And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. (18) So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! (19) “I was certain that I will confront my account.” (20) His shall be a pleasing life (21) In a Garden lofty. (22) with fruits within easy reach. (23) We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." (24) But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record (25) Nor known whatever was my reckoning! (26) "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! (27) "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! (28) "My power has perished from me!"... (29) [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. (30) and then let him enter hell, (31) And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. (32) Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. (33) nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, (34) That is why he has no friend today, (35) "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, (36) which only the sinners eat". (37)
