52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! (1) What is the Sure Reality? (2) And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? (3) The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. (4) As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. (5) And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; (6) violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. (7) and dost thou now see any remnant of them? (8) And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. (9) And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. (10) Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. (11) So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. (12) Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, (13) And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, (14) Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, (15) when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, (16) The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. (17) On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. (18) Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! (19) "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" (20) So he shall be in a life of pleasure, (21) In a lofty garden, (22) Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. (23) Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. (24) And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” (25) and neither known this my account! (26) Oh, would that it had been the ending! (27) "My wealth has not availed me, (28) [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" (29) (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, (30) and then roast him in Hell, (31) Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - (32) He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; (33) And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. (34) On this day, they will have no friends (35) Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; (36) “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” (37)
