Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! (1) What is the Inevitable Calamity? (2) And what will make you know what the Reality is? (3) The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. (4) Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), (5) And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; (6) which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: (7) Do you see any remnants of them? (8) Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, (9) They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. (10) Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship (11) In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. (12) Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, (13) and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, (14) Then, on that day will the Event befall. (15) And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, (16) The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. (18) Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! (19) “I was certain that I will confront my account.” (20) Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; (21) In a Garden lofty. (22) with clusters of fruit within easy reach. (23) Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! (24) As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, (25) and that we would never knew what our records contained. (26) I wish my death had been the decisive one. (27) My wealth has not helped me a thing (28) Gone from me is my authority." (29) [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. (30) Then in the Scorch roast him (31) Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. (32) Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, (33) "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! (34) Today he shall have no loyal friend here, (35) nor any food save the filth (36) which no one will eat except the sinners. (37)
