Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! (1) What is the Inevitable Calamity? (2) And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? (3) THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! (4) Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; (5) and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, (6) which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. (7) Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? (8) Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, (9) And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. (10) But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, (11) That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. (12) So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. (13) the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. (14) on that Day, the Event occurs. (15) And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. (16) The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. (18) Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! (19) Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." (20) He is therefore in the desired serenity. (21) In a lofty Garden (22) with its fruits within easy reach. (23) We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." (24) But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book (25) And had not known what is my account. (26) I wish death had put an end to me. (27) My wealth hath not availed me, (28) My authority is gone away from me. (29) "Seize him and manacle him, (30) Then in the Scorch roast him (31) Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: (32) "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. (33) and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: (34) So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend (35) Nor any food save filth (36) that none excepting the sinners eat.' (37)
