Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! (1) What is the Inevitable Hour? (2) And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. (3) Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! (4) But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! (5) and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, (6) Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. (7) Then do you see of them any remains? (8) Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. (9) They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. (10) Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. (11) making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. (12) Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), (13) and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, (14) On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. (15) And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. (16) On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. (17) On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. (18) Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: (19) "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" (20) so he will live in a state of Bliss (21) In a lofty Paradise, (22) Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. (23) "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" (24) But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book (25) And not known my account! (26) I wish death had put an end to me. (27) My wealth has been of no use to me. (28) Gone from me is my authority." (29) (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, (30) Roast him in Hell, (31) and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: (32) Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, (33) And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), (34) and so, no friend has here today, (35) and no food except pus (36) Which none but sinners eat.
