Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Sure Reality! (1) What is the Inevitable Calamity? (2) And what do you know what that indubitable event is? (3) Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. (4) Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; (5) and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm (6) Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. (7) Do you see any remnants of them? (8) Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. (9) They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. (10) But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, (11) That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. (12) And when the trumpet shall sound one blast (13) And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, (14) Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, (15) The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. (16) And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. (17) On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. (18) Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. (19) Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' (20) And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, (21) in a high Garden, (22) the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). (23) Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. (24) And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” (25) and knew nothing of my reckoning. (26) Would it had been the end! (27) My wealth has not helped me a thing (28) “All my power has vanished.” (29) The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, (30) Then cast him into the burning fire, (31) Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: (32) Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. (33) and he never urged the feeding of the needy; (34) therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, (35) nor any food except foul pus (36) “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” (37)
