52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! (1) What is the Indubitable? (2) And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. (3) Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! (4) Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; (5) And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind (6) He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! (7) Do you see any vestige left of them now? (8) And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. (9) and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. (10) Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, (11) That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. (12) With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, (13) and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, (14) on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. (15) and the heavens will be rent asunder, (16) The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. (18) Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! (19) Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! (20) So he shall be in a life of pleasure, (21) In a high garden (22) with fruits within easy reach. (23) (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." (24) And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: (25) And knew not what my reckoning! (26) I wish death had put an end to me. (27) My wealth has been of no use to me. (28) My power hath gone from me. (29) 'Take him, and fetter him, (30) Then throw him in the blazing Fire. (31) "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! (32) “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” (33) And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. (34) “So he does not have any friend here this day.” (35) and no food except pus (36) None will eat it except the sinners. (37)
