Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! (1) What is the sure calamity! (2) And what will make you know what the Reality is? (3) (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. (4) Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; (5) as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind (6) Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. (7) Do you see any remnants of them? (8) And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. (9) They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. (10) But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, (11) In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. (12) When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, (13) and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, (14) on that Day, the Event occurs. (15) and the heavens will be rent asunder, (16) and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. (17) On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. (18) On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! (19) Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' (20) So he shall be in a life of pleasure, (21) in a lofty garden, (22) Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. (23) (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' (24) But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, (25) and had not known my account. (26) Would it had been the end! (27) Our wealth is of no benefit to us (28) My authority is gone away from me. (29) (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, (30) “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” (31) then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. (32) Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, (33) nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, (34) “So he does not have any friend here this day.” (35) Nor food other than suppuration (filth) (36) which only the sinners will eat.” (37)
