Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The indubitable event! (1) What is the concrete reality? (2) And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! (3) The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. (4) Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; (5) And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. (6) Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. (7) Then do you see of them any remains? (8) Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. (9) They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. (10) Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. (11) so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. (12) So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast (13) And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. (14) Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, (15) And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. (16) and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. (17) On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. (18) So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! (19) Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," (20) So he will be in a pleasant life - (21) In a Garden lofty. (22) Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. (23) (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' (24) Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. (25) “And had never come to know my account!” (26) Oh, would that it had been death! (27) My wealth has been of no use to me. (28) “All my power has vanished.” (29) "Seize him and manacle him, (30) then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. (31) Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." (32) He did not believe in God the supreme, (33) nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. (34) Today he shall have no loyal friend here, (35) "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, (36) Which none but the hellish eat." (37)
