In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In a high garden 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 And not known my account! 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
