Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Reality! (1) What is the Inevitable Calamity? (2) And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! (3) The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! (4) So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; (5) as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind (6) that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. (7) Do you see any vestige left of them now? (8) Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. (9) And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. (10) But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, (11) that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. (12) And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. (13) And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. (14) on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; (15) when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, (16) The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. (18) Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! (19) I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". (20) So he shall be in a life of pleasure, (21) in a lofty Garden (22) With fruits hanging low within reach, (23) Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". (24) And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! (25) and that we would never knew what our records contained. (26) O would that it had made an end (of me): (27) “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” (28) and our belief has destroyed us". (29) Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, (30) and then let him enter hell, (31) “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” (32) they did not believe in the great God, (33) and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: (34) That is why he has no friend today, (35) Nor food other than suppuration (filth) (36) Which none but the wrongdoers eat. (37)
