Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reality! (1) What is the concrete reality? (2) And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? (3) The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. (4) Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), (5) and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind (6) Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. (7) Do you see any remnants of them? (8) And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, (9) and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! (10) When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. (11) That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. (12) So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast (13) And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- (14) on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. (15) and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, (16) and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… (17) The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. (18) Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! (19) Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” (20) so he will live in a state of Bliss (21) In a lofty Garden (22) its fruits are near. (23) [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." (24) But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book (25) "And that I had never known, how my Account is? (26) "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! (27) My riches have availed me not; (28) My power hath gone from me. (29) The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, (30) and then let him enter Hell. (31) Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." (32) Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allah, the Most Great, (33) nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. (34) Today he shall have no loyal friend here, (35) Nor any food save filthy corruption. (36) that none but sinners eat' (37)
