Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Reality! (1) What is the Inevitable Calamity? (2) What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? (3) The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. (4) the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; (5) And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. (6) Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. (7) Now dost thou see any remnant of them? (8) Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. (9) And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. (10) When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, (11) that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. (12) So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast (13) And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- (14) then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, (15) And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. (16) And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. (17) That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. (18) Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! (19) Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. (20) They will have a pleasant life (21) in a lofty Garden, (22) with its fruits within easy reach. (23) [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" (24) And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” (25) And not known my account! (26) "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! (27) My wealth hath not availed me, (28) There hath perished from me my authority. (29) (It will be said): Take him and fetter him (30) Roast him in Hell, (31) And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. (32) "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. (33) nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, (34) Today he shall have no loyal friend here, (35) neither any food saving foul pus, (36) that none excepting the sinners eat.' (37)
