52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! (1) How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! (2) And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! (3) Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! (4) As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; (5) The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale (6) He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. (7) Then do you see of them any remains? (8) Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. (9) They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. (10) Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. (11) making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. (12) With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, (13) and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, (14) On that day, the inevitable event will take place (15) The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. (16) On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. (17) That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. (18) Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! (19) “I was certain that I will confront my account.” (20) So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. (21) In a lofty Garden (22) with fruits within easy reach. (23) [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." (24) But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, (25) And knew not what my reckoning! (26) I wish my death had been the decisive one. (27) My riches have availed me not; (28) and our belief has destroyed us". (29) "Seize him and manacle him, (30) "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. (31) then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. (32) He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; (33) And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. (34) So no friend has he here this Day, (35) and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, (36) which no one will eat except the sinners. (37)
