Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! (1) What is the Indubitable? (2) And what will make you know what the Reality is? (3) The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. (4) Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; (5) The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale (6) Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. (7) Beholdest thou any of them remaining? (8) And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. (9) And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. (10) When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. (11) so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. (12) With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, (13) and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, (14) Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, (15) And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. (16) and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. (17) That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. (18) Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! (19) I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". (20) So he shall have an agreeable life (21) in an exalted garden (22) The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. (23) (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” (24) But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book (25) and neither known this my account! (26) "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! (27) Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, (28) "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" (29) (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. (30) then cast him in the Fire, (31) Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - (32) Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allah, the Most Great, (33) and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: (34) so today he has no friend here, (35) Nor any food save filthy corruption. (36) "Which none do eat but those in sin." (37)
