52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! (1) How tremendous is the true event! (2) And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? (3) The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. (4) So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. (5) as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind (6) Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! (7) and dost thou now see any remnant of them? (8) And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, (9) They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. (10) Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship (11) so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. (12) And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, (13) and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, (14) on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. (15) And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. (16) And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. (17) On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. (18) Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! (19) I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". (20) And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, (21) in a lofty Garden (22) The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. (23) Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! (24) But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book (25) and not known my reckoning! (26) Would that it (my death) had ended it all! (27) Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, (28) "My power has perished from me!"... (29) The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, (30) and then let him enter Hell. (31) then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! (32) Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. (33) Nor urged others to feed the poor. (34) Today he shall have no loyal friend here, (35) nor any food save the filth (36) “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” (37)
