۞ The Sure Reality! (1) What is the Inevitable Calamity? (2) And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. (3) Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. (4) So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. (5) And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. (6) which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: (7) Now dost thou see any remnant of them? (8) And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin (9) They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. (10) Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. (11) In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. (12) Then when the Horn is blown with one blast (13) and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! (14) And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; (15) And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. (16) The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. (17) On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. (18) Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. (19) "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" (20) So he shall be in a pleasing life (21) In a Garden lofty. (22) with fruits within easy reach. (23) Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". (24) But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record (25) And I had not known what my account was: (26) Would that death had taken us away for good. (27) My riches have not availed me, (28) Vanished has my power from me." (29) It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” (30) then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. (31) and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: (32) He did not believe in God the supreme, (33) nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, (34) Today he has been left here friendless; (35) nor any food except foul pus (36) None will eat it except the sinners. (37)
