Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! (1) What is the Inevitable Reality? (2) And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? (3) THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! (4) As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! (5) And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; (6) He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. (7) Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? (8) And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. (9) And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. (10) Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) (11) making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. (12) When a single blow is blown on the Horn, (13) and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, (14) Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, (15) And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, (16) And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. (17) That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. (18) Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! (19) "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" (20) He is therefore in the desired serenity. (21) In high empyrean (22) The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. (23) Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. (24) As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, (25) "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! (26) Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! (27) My riches have availed me not; (28) My power hath gone from me. (29) Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, (30) "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. (31) And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. (32) Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, (33) nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. (34) So no friend has he here this Day, (35) Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; (36) Which none but the wrongdoers eat. (37)
