Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The true event! (1) What is the Inevitable? (2) And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? (3) Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. (4) So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. (5) And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, (6) which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. (7) Beholdest thou any of them remaining? (8) And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. (9) And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. (10) Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship (11) making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. (12) So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast (13) And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- (14) on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. (15) And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. (16) and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… (17) On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. (18) Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! (19) “I was certain that I will confront my account.” (20) And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, (21) In a lofty Garden (22) Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. (23) We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." (24) As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, (25) And had not known what is my account. (26) Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! (27) My wealth hath not availed me, (28) and my authority has vanished.” (29) (It will be said): Take him and fetter him (30) and then let him enter Hell. (31) then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. (32) Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, (33) And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. (34) Today he shall have no loyal friend here, (35) Nor any food save filth (36) "Which none do eat but those in sin." (37)
