Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! (1) What is the Inevitable Hour? (2) And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! (3) Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. (4) So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. (5) as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind (6) that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. (7) and dost thou now see any remnant of them? (8) Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, (9) And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. (10) Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) (11) So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. (12) And when the trumpet shall sound one blast (13) And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, (14) Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, (15) The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. (16) And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. (18) Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! (19) Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' (20) So he shall be in a life of pleasure, (21) in a lofty garden, (22) its clusters nigh to gather. (23) “Eat and drink with pleasure the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” (24) But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, (25) Nor that I knew my reckoning! (26) Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! (27) My wealth has not availed me. (28) my authority is gone from me.' (29) (It will be said): Take him and fetter him (30) Then into Hellfire drive him. (31) "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! (32) for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, (33) And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), (34) Today he has been left here friendless; (35) Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; (36) None shall eat it but the sinners. (37)
