Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! (1) How tremendous is the true event! (2) And what do you know what that indubitable event is? (3) The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. (4) As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! (5) and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, (6) violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. (7) Do you see any remnants of them? (8) And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. (9) They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. (10) Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship (11) so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. (12) And when the trumpet shall sound one blast (13) and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, (14) on that Day, the Event occurs. (15) And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. (16) And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. (18) So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! (19) Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. (20) so he will live in a state of Bliss (21) In a Garden on high, (22) Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. (23) [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" (24) Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. (25) and had not known my account. (26) Would that it (my death) had ended it all! (27) "My wealth has not availed me, (28) My authority is gone away from me. (29) (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, (30) and then roast him in Hell, (31) “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” (32) Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, (33) And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. (34) Therefor hath he no lover here this day, (35) Nor any food save filth (36) Which none but the hellish eat." (37)
