Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! (1) What is the Inevitable? (2) And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! (3) The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) (4) As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! (5) And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind (6) Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. (7) Now dost thou see any remnant of them? (8) And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. (9) They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. (10) When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, (11) That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. (12) Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, (13) And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, (14) on that Day, the Event occurs. (15) And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, (16) And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. (17) On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. (18) Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! (19) Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! (20) So he shall have an agreeable life (21) in a lofty paradise, (22) with its fruits within easy reach. (23) (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. (24) But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! (25) And knew not what my reckoning! (26) Oh, would that it had been death! (27) My riches have availed me not; (28) “All my power has vanished.” (29) It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” (30) then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. (31) and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: (32) Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, (33) "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! (34) On this day, they will have no friends (35) Nor food other than suppuration (filth) (36) that none but sinners eat' (37)
