The Pen (Al-Qalam)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Embryo (Al-Alaq) before Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Nun. By the pen and that which they write (therewith), (1) By the grace of your Lord, you are not a mad man. (2) Surely thou shalt have a wage unfailing; (3) surely thou art upon a mighty morality. (4) So you will soon see, and they too will see, (5) #NAME? (6) Verily, your Lord knows better, who (among men) has gone astray from His Path, and He knows better those who are guided. (7) So (O Muhammad SAW) obey not the deniers [(of Islamic Monotheism those who belie the Verses of Allah), the Oneness of Allah, and the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad SAW), etc.] (8) Fain would they that thou shouldst be pliant, so that they will be pliant. (9) And yield not to any mean swearer (10) A slanderer, going about with calumnies, (11) obstructing virtues, a sinful transgressor, (12) [or] one who is cruel, by greed possessed, and in addition to all this, utterly useless [to his fellow-men]. (13) Because he is a possessor of wealth and children, (14) When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. (15) Anon We shall brand him on snout. (16) Verily We! We have proved them even as We proved the fellows of a garden when they sware that they would surely reap it in the morning. (17) without making any allowance (for the will of Allah). (18) Then there encompassed it a visitation from your Lord while they were sleeping. (19) and the garden was turned into a barren desert. (20) So they called out to each other at the break of dawn, (21) Saying: Go early to your tilth if you would cut (the produce). (22) So they went, while they consulted together secretly, (23) "Let no beggar come to the garden". (24) and early they went, strongly bent upon their purpose. (25) But when they saw it, they said, "Indeed, we are lost; (26) Indeed, we are utterly ruined!" (27) The most moderate of them said, "Did I not say to you, 'Why do you not exalt [Allah]?' " (28) They said: "Glory to Our Lord! Verily, we have been Zalimun (wrong-doers, etc.)." (29) And they came blaming one another. (30) They said, "Woe to us. We have been arrogant. (31) Perhaps our Lord will replace it with a better garden. We turn in repentance to our Lord". (32) Such is the chastisement; and the chastisement of the Hereafter is assuredly even greater, if only they knew. (33)
