The Pen (Al-Qalam)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Embryo (Al-Alaq) before Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nun. By the Pen and the (Record) which (men) write,- (1) You are not insane, by the munificence of your Lord. (2) And verily, thine shall be a reward neverending (3) Surely, you (Prophet Muhammad) are of a great morality. (4) So you will see and they will see (5) #NAME? (6) Your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His path and who is rightly guided. (7) So do not comply with those who deny: (8) Who would have had thee compromise, that they may compromise. (9) Neither obey thou each feeble oath-monger, (10) The excessively insulting one, spreader of spite. (11) hinderer of good, guilty aggressor, coarse-grained, (12) Ignoble, besides all that, base-born; (13) It is because he is possessed of wealth and children (14) When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. (15) [For this] We shall brand him with indelible disgrace! (16) Verily We have tried them as We tried the People of the Garden, when they resolved to gather the fruits of the (garden) in the morning. (17) And were not willing to set aside a portion (for the poor). (18) Then a calamity from your Lord fell upon it, but they remained fast asleep. (19) And it became as though reaped. (20) In the morning they called to one another, (21) “Hurry to your orchard if you would gather its fruit.” (22) They all left, whispering to one another, (23) "Let no needy person come to you within it today." (24) And they went out early, determined in their resolve. (25) Then when they beheld it, they said: verily we have strayed. (26) Aye! it is we who are deprived! (27) One who was temperate among them, said: "Did I not say: 'Why don't you priase God?'" (28) They answered: "Limitless in His glory is our Sustainer! Verily, we were doing wrong!" (29) Then they approached one another, blaming each other. (30) Said they: O woe to us! surely we were inordinate: (31) May be our Lord will give us a better orchard in its stead; we turn to Him." (32) Such is the torment if only they knew that the torment in the life hereafter will certainly be greater. (33)
