The Column (Al-Suff)
14 verses, revealed in Medina after Mutual Blaming (Al-Taghaabun) before Friday (Al-Jumu'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
All that is in the heavens and the earth magnifies God; He is the All-mighty; the All-wise. (1) O you who believe, wherefore do you say what you do not? (2) How despicable it is in the sight of Allah that you may preach what you do not practice. (3) Verily, Allah loves those who fight in His Cause in rows (ranks) as if they were a solid structure. (4) And when Musa said to his people: O my people! why do you give me trouble? And you know indeed that I am Allah's apostle to you; but when they turned aside, Allah made their hearts turn aside, and Allah does not guide the transgressing people. (5) And when Isa son of Marium said: O children of Israel! surely I am the apostle of Allah to you, verifying that which is before me of the Taurat and giving the good news of an Apostle who will come after me, his name being Ahmad, but when he came to them with clear arguments they said: This is clear magic. (6) Who is more unjust than one who creates falsehood against God when he has already been invited to Islam? God does not guide the unjust people. (7) They desire to put out the light of Allah with their mouths but Allah will perfect His light, though the unbelievers may be averse. (8) it is He who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the true religion, so that He may cause it to prevail over all religions, however much the polytheists may dislike it. (9)
