The Column (Al-Suff)
14 verses, revealed in Medina after Mutual Blaming (Al-Taghaabun) before Friday (Al-Jumu'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth declares the glory of Allah; and He is the Mighty, the Wise. (1) O YOU who have attained to faith! Why do you say one thing and do another? (2) It is most hateful in the sight of God if you say something and do not practice it. (3) Verily, God loves [only] those who fight in His cause in [solid] ranks, as though they were a building firm and compact. (4) And remember, Moses said to his people: "O my people! why do ye vex and insult me, though ye know that I am the messenger of Allah (sent) to you?" Then when they went wrong, Allah let their hearts go wrong. For Allah guides not those who are rebellious transgressors. (5) And when Jesus son of Mary said, 'Children of Israel, I am indeed the Messenger of God to you, confirming the Torah that is before me, and giving good tidings of a Messenger who shall come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad.' Then, when he brought them the clear signs, they said, 'This is a manifest sorcery.' (6) Who is more unjust than one who creates falsehood against God when he has already been invited to Islam? God does not guide the unjust people. (7) They want to put out the light of God with their mouths, but God will certainly make His light shine forever - even though the disbelievers may dislike this. (8) It is He Who has sent His Messenger with Guidance and the Religion of Truth, that he may proclaim it over all religion, even though the Pagans may detest (it). (9)
