Say: O People of the Scripture! Come to an agreement between us and you: that we shall worship none but Allah, and that we shall ascribe no partner unto Him, and that none of us shall take others for lords beside Allah. And if they turn away, then say: Bear witness that we are they who have surrendered (unto Him). (64) Ask the People of the Book, "Why do you argue about Abraham? The Torah and Gospel were revealed only after him. Why do you not understand? (65) Lo! ye are those who argue about that whereof ye have some knowledge: Why then argue ye concerning that whereof ye have no knowledge? Allah knoweth. Ye know not. (66) Neither was Abraham a Jew nor a Christian, but upright and obedient, and not an idolater. (67) Without doubt, among men, the nearest of kin to Abraham, are those who follow him, as are also this Prophet and those who believe: And Allah is the Protector of those who have faith. (68) Some among the people of the Book wish to lead you astray, yet they lead none astray but themselves, though they do not realise. (69) People of the Book! Why do you deny God's signs, having been witnesses thereof? (70) O followers of earlier revelation! Why do you cloak the truth with falsehood and conceal the truth of which you are [so well] aware? (71)
