A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam). (39) And a numerous company from among the last. (40) But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand -- (41) Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, (42) and the shadows of black smoke (43) neither cool, neither goodly; (44) Before they lived at ease, (45) and persisted in heinous sins. (46) And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? (47) And also our forefathers?" (48) Say: The first and the last, (49) will indeed be gathered together at an appointed time on a Day known [only to God]: (50) and then, verily, O you who have gone astray and called the truth a lie, (51) Will be eating from trees of zaqqum (52) And fill (your) bellies with it; (53) and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, (54) drinking it as thirsty camels do.” (55) This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment. (56) We have created you, then why would you not confirm it? (57) Did you ever consider the sperm that you emit? (58) Did you create it, or are We the Creator? (59) It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten (60) from changing the nature of your existence and bringing you into being [anew] in a manner [as yet] unknown to you. (61) And you have indeed learnt about the first creation, so why do you not ponder? (62) And have you seen that [seed] which you sow? (63) Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? (64) Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment, (65) [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt; (66) Nay, but we are deprived! (67) Have you considered the water which you drink? (68) Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend? (69) If We willed We verily could make it bitter. Why then, give ye not thanks? (70) Have you thought about the fire that you kindle. (71) Is it you that originated its tree, or are We the Originator? (72) We Ourselves made it for a reminder, and a boon to the desert-dwellers. (73) Glorify, then, (O Prophet), the name of your Great Lord. (74)
