The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Merciful (1) Bestowed the Qur'an, (2) He created man (3) and taught him its pronunciation. (4) The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. (5) and the stars and the trees bow themselves; (6) And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, (7) In order that you may not corrupt the balance. (8) weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! (9) He positioned the earth for all the creatures: (10) Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, (11) And the grain with (its) husk and fragrance. (12) Which favors of your Lord will you both (humans and jinn) belie? (13) He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery (14) And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. (15) Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? (16) (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). (17) Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? (18) He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: (19) Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. (20) (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? (21) From these seas come forth pearls and coral. (22) How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? (23) And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. (24) How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? (25)
