The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. (1) Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". (2) And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! (3) And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. (4) Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. (5) Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter (6) Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, (7) Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. (8) ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. (9) Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" (10) So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring (11) and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: (12) And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, (13) Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. (14) We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? (15) Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! (16) We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? (17) The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! (18) Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck (19) Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. (20) So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? (21) We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? (22)
