The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. (1) But if they [who reject all thought of the Last Hour] were to see a sign [of its approach,] they would turn aside and say: "An ever-recurring delusion!" (2) And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! (3) Surely there came to them narratives (of the ancient nations) that should suffice to deter (them from transgression), (4) but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. (5) Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, (6) Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, (7) These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". (8) ۞ Before them Noah's people also gave the lie (to his Message). They rejected Our servant as a liar, saying: “He is a madman”; and he was rebuffed. (9) Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" (10) Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water (11) and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. (12) But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, (13) Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. (14) And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? (15) How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. (16) And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? (17) Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! (18) And We sent against them a howling wind in a Day of continuous of ill fortune (19) Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. (20) How then were My punishment and My warnings! (21) And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? (22)
