The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. (1) Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' (2) They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! (3) And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- (4) Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. (5) So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, (6) with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. (7) Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” (8) ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. (9) so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" (10) Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, (11) And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. (12) And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked (13) Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. (14) And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? (15) So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! (16) And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? (17) Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? (18) We indeed sent towards them a severe windstorm, on a day the ill luck of which lasted upon them forever. (19) Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. (20) How was then My punishment and My commination! (21) Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? (22)
