The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. (1) (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” (2) They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). (3) Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them (4) profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: (5) (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, (6) Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, (7) Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. (8) ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, (9) Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. (10) So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. (11) We caused the earth to burst forth with springs so that the waters could come together for a predestined purpose. (12) And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked (13) floated on under Our eyes: a vindication of him who had been rejected. (14) And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? (15) How was then My punishment and My commination! (16) And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? (17) TO THE TRUTH gave the lie [the tribe of] Ad: and how severe was the suffering which I inflicted when My warnings were disregarded! (18) Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, (19) plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. (20) How then were My punishment and My warnings! (21) And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? (22)
